Large-scale Moscow's Strikes Cut Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Russian aerial assaults have led to power cuts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in eastern districts were left without electricity and encountered interruptions to drinking water, as stated by city officials.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, based on information from local officials.

Moscow has escalated attacks on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while the country's government has demanded "concrete actions" from international partners to exert influence on Moscow.

"What's needed is not window dressing but firm measures - from the United States, the EU and the major economies - in providing defensive weapons and enforcing sanctions," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and several dozen rockets attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were striving to restore power.

A wave of strikes hit power facilities and apartment buildings in the capital.

Several of the people injured in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, per statements from local officials.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region endured significant strikes during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child died and three other people were injured.

The assaults succeed nights of aerial attacks in the territory, sections of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

All of Ukraine is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are tougher to identify.

Government officials told journalists that Russia was purposely seeking to damage the national power system, with attacks already disrupting energy systems.

Officials stated utility staff and officials were anticipating more assaults.
